América Tropical

América Tropical es un mural del pintor David Alfaro Siqueiros realizado en Calle Olvera, en el centro de Los Ángeles en 1932. El título completo es “América Tropical: Oprimida y Destrozada por los Imperialismos” y este retrata a un indígena mexicano crucificado en una doble cruz con un águila americana sobre él. Hay una pirámide maya en el fondo invadida de vegetación, mientras que un campesino peruano y uno mexicano se sientan en una pared en la esquina superior derecha, listos para defenderse. Las esculturas en el fondo del mural que representan la arquitectura precolombina y la antigua civilización indígena, están destruidas.

América Tropical is a mural by David Alfaro Siqueiros located in Olvera Street, in downtown Los Angeles in 1932. The full title is "Tropical America: Oppressed and Shattered by Imperialisms" and this one portrays an indigenous Mexican crucified on a double cross with an American eagle on him. There is a Mayan pyramid at the bottom invaded by vegetation, while a Peruvian peasant and a Mexican peasant sit on a wall in the upper right corner, ready to fight back. The sculptures in the background of the mural representing pre-Columbian architecture and ancient indigenous civilization are destroyed.
