UNAM-Boston and FES Zaragoza strengthen ties to encourage the internationalization of academic projects in New England
Last April 23th a meeting was held between the Center for Mexican Studies, UNAM-Boston and the Faculty of Superior Studies of Zaragoza in which priorities of academic projects were defined to encourage its internationalization in New England, as it is stablished in the Institutional Development Plan. On behalf of FES Zaragoza, Dr, Vicente Jesús Hernández Abad, Head of the entity and Mtra. Yolanda Lucina Gómez Gutiérrez, Head of the Student Development Secretariat attended the meeting. Mtro. Héctor Závala Guzmán, Coordinator of Relations and Management represented UNAM-Boston at the meeting.
Among the projects, the Institutions agreed upon a lectureship from abroad, imparted by the Faculty of Psychology. The program would take advantage of the space provided by the offices of UNAM-Boston as well as the venues of Superior Education Institutes located in the metropolitan area of Boston, such as Harvard University, Boston University, University of Massachusetts and others.
Additionally, an agreement was reached to promote academic exchange. Professors form the FES Zaragoza may do research stays and a sabbatical year at the Universities of the Region, participate in academic conferences, attend courses of English refinement with special emphasis on the technical language used in different disciplines, etc.
On the other hand, the institutions agreed to promote the international mobility for graduate students in the different modalities that UNAM offers, from exchange programs to internships in UNAM-Boston in order to obtain the degree certificate.
This reunion grants the basis for a development of a cooperation relationship between the two entities of the University, which will benefit the community of FES Zaragoza, easing the access and interaction to one of the most important academic communities around the globe.
